I read Holy Mavericks when it came out in May and loved it. I thought it was very well-argued but that's because I'm conversant with their economic approach. The authors don't come across as believers and I can see why Christianity Today has problems with it because they use economic language to explain religious vitality, something troubling to many Christians. The authors carefully and cogently make cases for why each individual "maverick" gained a large following. I love the epilogue that sums up their ideas (which I'm guessing you didn't read) and the economic essay at the end is amazing. I think you missed the boat on this one, and I normally enjoy your reviews.
